about me

Hello! I'm Julie, a UX Design Leader with a Master’s in Interaction Design and 12 years of UX Design and Engineering experience. I am fascinated by people and how technology can support even the most technophobic among us. Incurably curious and a natural communicator, I love discerning patterns in user data, designing better experiences for users, and prototyping and designing iteratively.

I studied Human-Computer Interaction Design in the UK, center of one of the strongest UX Design cultures in the world. Before earning my master's from City, University of London, I worked as an engineer, designing and building physical and digital products in the sports and medical sectors (see my PullSmart and Physio-Control projects). These experiences gave me a curiosity about the users of my products and a desire to focus solely on UX design.

what i do

user research

Getting to know users however possible: observations, surveys, interviews... NOTE: I don't actually use binoculars. That would be creepy.

interaction design

Wireframes, user flows, customer journey maps...let's make the product better! How? Iterate, iterate, iterate.

prototype

From paper to animated simulations, my favorite way to test out a real experience with the design is to make a prototype!

usability evaluation

How do I know if my design actually made things better? Watching people struggle with poorly-designed technology is painful but enlightening.
